Over $200k coming to Spokane organizations to address youth mental health, homelessness

The whole month of July, VOA Spokane is asking our community to help them support the undeserved and Un-Housed by donating Men’s underwear, socks and deodorant.
Half a million dollars will go to Volunteers of America to help move Crosswalk, a youth homeless shelter out of downtown near Spokane Community College. The funding covers an inflationary gap the organization discovered when it was getting ready to break ground.
Governor Jay Inslee came to Spokane to talk about youth homelessness. He met with Volunteers of America about state funding to build a new shelter.
The center will soon be receiving $2.5 million from the state to build a new shelter, provide more resources and help Spokane’s vulnerable youth get back on their feet.
