Hope House: Where Recovery Begins & Stability Takes Root

Hope House Respite Center provides short-term medical recuperative care for women experiencing homelessness who are recovering from illness, injury, or hospitalization. It offers a safe, supportive environment where participants can heal physically, stabilize emotionally, and regain the strength needed for their next steps toward stability and independence.

Built on a person-centered and trauma-informed approach, Hope House Respite Center ensures that every woman receives compassionate care tailored to her acute and acute-on-chronic conditions. Through close coordination with hospitals, healthcare providers, and community partners, we help participants achieve stability based on their medical needs while also offering behavioral health services and support in finding stable housing.

Core Services

Collaborative Partnerships & Referral Process

The success of Hope House Respite Center is built on strong collaboration with hospitals, healthcare providers, and Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). These partnerships ensure that women experiencing homelessness who need short-term medical respite care are identified early and referred appropriately.

Referrals typically come from hospital discharge planners, social workers, or clinic care coordinators who recognize the need for continued recovery in a supportive setting. Once a referral is received, our team verifies eligibility, confirms managed care coverage, and works with providers to ensure a smooth transition from hospital to respite care.

Throughout each participant’s stay, we maintain open communication with referring partners to share updates, coordinate care, and support recovery goals. Upon discharge, our staff arrange follow-up appointments, behavioral health connections, primary care linkage, and housing navigation to promote long-term stability.

This collaborative and coordinated model reflect our commitment to compassionate, integrated care, ensuring each participant receives the right level of support at the right time.

Environment & Philosophy of Care

Hope House Respite Center offers a trauma-informed, person-centered, and healing-oriented environment where women can recover safely and rebuild stability. Our philosophy emphasizes dignity, compassion, and holistic recovery, supporting healing of the body, mind, and spirit.

The program is guided by the standards of the National Institute for Medical Respite Care (NIMRC) and relevant Washington Administrative Code (WAC) guidelines. These frameworks ensure that care is delivered ethically, consistently, and with deep respect for each participant’s recovery journey.

By fostering safety, empowerment, and trust, we create a restorative space where women not only recover physically but also build the confidence and skills needed for long-term wellness and independence.

Program Outcomes & Goals

The Hope House Respite Center is dedicated to providing short-term care that creates long-term impact. Our outcomes reflect the belief that every stay, no matter how brief, can serve as a bridge toward stability, health, and housing.

Building Brighter Futures

Hope House doesn’t just provide respite—it’s a transformative step toward stability. Our services are designed to break the cycle of homelessness by equipping women with the skills, support, and resources needed to transition swiftly into permanent housing and achieve independence.

By addressing the root causes of homelessness, including untreated health conditions, lack of resources, and systemic barriers, Hope House helps women find their way back to safety and stability. These women are grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and daughters—each with their own story and their own potential.

Meet Morningstar

Meet Morningstar- her story is one of strength, determination, and hope. She’s excited to share her journey from first arriving at Hope House to becoming housed, not just to reflect on how far she’s come, but to inspire others. Her path hasn’t been easy, and she faced difficult moments along the way. But Morningstar’s message is clear: if you put in the effort, you can accomplish anything.

We invite you to listen as Morningstar shares her journey in her own words- some topics are sensitive.
