Welcome to the Homeward Bound Program.
Homeward Bound is a fund dedicated to providing travel expenses for individuals struggling with homelessness in Spokane who may have stability in another community. The funds can be used to purchase plane, train and bus tickets, in addition to covering other associated costs, such as a taxi service or local transit fees, Uber/Lyft, pet and/or baggage fees to help facilitate relocation. It is the hope that this funding will reunite individuals with their friends or family to quickly resolve their housing crisis. Individuals who wish to receive assistance through this fund must be currently homeless in Spokane County and have a stable place to live indefinitely upon reaching their chosen destination.
This fund cannot provide funds to bring an individual back from another community. Tickets purchased by the Homeward Bound program are one-way only. Self-referrals are not allowed, and individuals wishing to receive these funds must have an intake done by a local Spokane homeless provider, such as:
- Jewels Helping Hands
- SNAP
- Catholic Charities
- Peer Spokane
- Cup of Cool Water
- VOA
- Community centers
- Other
- Outreach projects, social workers, hospital staff, or any other case manager
- Peer support can submit referrals as long as they are associated with an agency in Spokane.
