National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week
November 15-21, 2009

Support the hungry and homeless by joining Volunteers of America in the following commemorations of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. The following is a list of events commemorating hunger & homlessness week in the Spokane area: 

Monday, Nov. 16:

• Winter Wear Drive
  Drop donations of new and gently used coats, hats gloves, scarves, socks and boots at the Central United Methodist Church (518 W 3rd Ave) between 9am and 4pm. 

Tuesday, Nov. 17:

• Toiletry Drive
  Drop toiletry donations (shampoo, toothbrushes, razors, deodorant, feminine hygiene items, etc.) at Global Credit Union (1520 W 3rd Ave) between 7am and 10am. 

Wednesday, Nov. 18:

• Basic Needs Drive
  Bring toilet paper, paper towels, laundry soap, dish soap, mps, brooms and cleaning supplies to 2nd and wall between 7am and 10am. 
   
• Movie Night—Where God Left His Shoes
  A screening of "Where God Left His Shoes" starring John Leguizamo will be screened at the Foley Teleconference Center in the Foley Library at Gonzaga University. Showtimes are 6pm and 8pm. Admission is one can of food per person.

Thursday, Nov. 19:

• "Food for Thought"—A Community Dinner
  A night of conversation in community with a meal at the Central United Methodist Church (518 W 3rd Ave) from 5pm to 7pm. 

Friday, Nov. 21:

• Memorial Service
  Westminster Congregational United Church of Christ (411 S. Washington) noon to 1pm with services at 12:15pm.
